Argenta Community Theater to expand with new education facility

Argenta Community Theater (ACT) announced plans for the October grand opening of ACT II, a new education facility for children and adults interested in performing and technical arts.

Four doors down from Argenta Community Theater’s mainstage location on Main Street in North Little Rock, ACT II will be home to the Sharon Heflin Education Center named in honor of the local philanthropist and longtime supporter of ACT. The 2,000 sq. ft. building will provide voice and acting classes beginning this fall with plans for TV/film, technical production and dance classes to follow in the spring and summer.

“Argenta Community Theater’s ‘ACTing Up’ summer program, developed by North Little Rock educator and choreographer, Christen Pitts, has seen huge success and growth over the past several years and we recognize the need for year-round classes covering all aspects of the performing arts. Our mission has always been to invest in this community by providing access to professional quality entertainment and education. We can’t wait to welcome you to ACT II this fall,” said ACT executive director Sydney Wolfe.

“ACT II will be a magical place for performers, instructors and audiences. Not only will we hold classes and rehearsals in the new building, but we are also offering intimate dinner theater experiences for our patrons. ACT and ACT II are designed to be equally unique and we expect ACT II to have a major impact on the long-term success of our organization,” said ACT co-founder and Producing Artistic Director Vincent Insalaco.

The ACT II Grand Opening Gala presented by Gwatney Chevrolet and Ben E. Keith Foods will be held October 11th-13th. A VIP Night sponsored in part by Centennial Bank will be held on October 11th to honor Heflin. The following nights, features guest speakers will include Little Rock native and actor, George Newbern, best known for his roles on Father of the Bride and Scandal, along with Tony Award winning Broadway Producer and Arkansas native Elizabeth Williams.
